But what is The Third Age?

The third age is that time of life when the duties of full-time work and of raising a family are over, which for most of us usually happens in our 50’s and 60’s, leaving time and energies for us again to follow our own interests and needs. Now we can  explore activities or interests we didn't have time for before.

U3A Mackay empowers seniors to embrace their third age with vitality, purpose, and camaraderie! Check out our diverse range of classes and activities. There will be something there for you.

No matter our age, learning, laughter and a sense of community are vital for well-being. â€‹

But what is U3A?

The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a worldwide self-help organisation promoting learning for personal enjoyment and satisfaction, offering seniors the opportunity to explore new interests and to share with one another the knowledge and skills they have acquired. The U3A is dedicated to connecting seniors to lifelong learning.

The U3A is a worldwide movement originating in Toulouse, France in 1973. The idea spread rapidly to other European countries, including Britain in 1981. The first U3A in Australia was established in Melbourne in 1984.

U3A Mackay was formed in 1991, and is one of many U3A organisations in Australia.
