U3A Network Queensland State Conference will be hosted by U3A Mackay 11 – 13 May 2027

Purpose

The U3A Network Queensland State Conference is designed to support U3A Management Committees by building their capacity to manage, develop and innovate U3A associations at the local level.

Theme

Our conference theme is inspired by the iconic song by Mackay’s very own Graeme Connors, A Little Further North Each Year. This song reflects the heart of U3A. It speaks of moving forward with intention, enjoying life, connecting with others, and continuing a journey of learning and personal growth.

​The Conference

We are building a conference around 3 key experiences:

Learn, Share, and Connect

Our goal is that every delegate will:

• learn something,

• contribute or share something,

• take back useful things for your own U3A group, and most importantly,

• network, engage, and establish connections across U3As.

Venue & Accommodation

All of this will take place beside the sea, here in tropical Mackay. Our conference venue is the Ocean International—yes, right by the ocean.

But wait – there’s more!

Our region is rich in natural beauty. There are the sandy beaches that hug the city, our unique blue Pioneer River, and Cape Hillsborough National Park, where the kangaroos and wallabies gather on the beach at sunrise. Venture a little further and you’ll find Eungella National Park - home to rainforest, fresh mountain air, and one of the best places in Australia to spot a platypus in the wild.
